My grandmother and aunt like to buy little community-created cookbooks. The kind of thing where everyone in 4-H or a squaredance club or ladies auxiliary all contribute a dozen recipes apiece, then someone collects and organizes them, and out comes a cookbook.
I always find the titles delightful. Disciples Delights II - recipes from the First Christian Church Recipes You Can Bank On - from the bank where my aunt works Recipes From The Heart - from Gainesville Memorial Hospital
I'm working on explaining why I started this blog. So, uh, bear with me on this working explanation.
My family (growing up) had a few problems here and there. Most of them now refuse to speak or see each other.
Well. I just got married. Which means I have my own family. And so help me, I'll be damned if I'm going to repeat any of those mistakes.
If you follow the logic that hate comes from fear, I guess you could say I truly fear my inherited family situation. And hopefully the more I name these fears and throw them out onto the web, the less scary they'll seem. And I can finally just get over it and focus on the family I want to create and have.
And hopefully-hopefully, let other people know they're not so alone with their wackass families either. I don't want to say I'm HAPPY when I learn of other people with estranged family members, but I do feel less like a failure and bad person.
Like I said, this... this is a working explanation. Oh, and it's a year long. Thumbs up.
